Did you know that a large proportion of our household waste consists of disposable nappies? On average, a child wears more than 5,000 nappies. And this is despite the fact that nowadays very good washable nappies are available. Good reusable alternatives are also available for disposable menstrual products.

Would you like to learn more about the possibilities and use of sustainable alternatives to disposable nappies and menstrual products? Then drop by the weekly market in Vianen on Wednesday 28 May 2025 between 10.00 - 16.00.

There will be a stall with representatives from the Billenboetiek for washable nappies and Lotties Period for sustainable menstrual products. They will be happy to give you more information. You can also buy a washable swim nappy or sustainable menstrual product for an extra low amount of €5, or get a 50% discount voucher for products via the webshop (the discount voucher is for Vijfheerenlanden residents and applies to purchases of up to €200). This way, you can see if it's something for you too.

Primary school children donate a whale from litter

15-07-2025 Basisschoolkinderen schenken een walvis van zwerfafval
A crazy project by group 5B of De Schakel primary school. Pupils went into the neighbourhood, investigated litter and collected bags full of it. From their finds, they made colourful whale. On 15 July, they handed over their work of art to us. A strong symbol for awareness and a cleaner environment.

Leftovers? Here's what you can do with it

A broken chair, an old cabinet or a discarded table. These are things and materials that should not or do not fit in the residual waste container. And certainly don't belong on the street. Fortunately, there are plenty of ways to dispose of these items properly. Much easier than you might think.
