A litter-free neighbourhood starts with you!

Putting rubbish next to the collection container is not allowed. Apart from the high cost of this offence, side deposits are bad for a neighbourhood's safety and public health, and it also looks very dirty. Together, we keep the neighbourhood tidy and clean.

Reuse

At the Ecopark, we give as many goods and materials as possible a second chance. At the waste disposal area, there is a special area where you can neatly put your things that could get a 2nd chance. In the workshop, people who need a helping hand work under supervision to repair or make up as many goods as possible, such as furniture. Of course, you can take back your repaired items yourself for a small fee. We sell donated items in the regional thrift shops or in the webshop of The Companion.

Sustainable building materials

At 2e Kans Bouwmaterialen you can buy sustainable building materials that you want to give a second life. Take a look in the webshop of 2nd Chance Building Materials to the current supply of circular building materials. You can also drop off your reusable building materials.

Recycling centre

KoreNet converts goods that cannot be reused as products into reusable raw materials. For example, KoreNet separates your delivered wood into reusable wood and wood that goes to the chipboard industry. KoreNet also uses a sorting plant to separate raw materials delivered mixed, such as wood, plastic and metal for recycling.

Education

From the education room, you have a view over the Ecopark. Here you can learn more about the circular economy and how you yourself can contribute to a better environment. The education room can be visited by appointment and is suitable for groups, such as school classes. Guided tours of the Ecopark are also possible.
Want to know more about the possibilities or make an appointment? Send an email to info@waardlanden.nl.

Efficient

By taking cleaning out of the municipalities' hands and working across municipal borders, collection and cattle routes have been optimised. Trolleys go into the region in a targeted way, working smartly and quickly. Many shared services are used throughout the region.

High quality of service

Our primary task is to take care of cleaning and waste disposal for municipalities. In doing so, we focus on providing residents with good service and information. That quality comes first is reflected in our wide range of services. For example, extra service vans are on daily rotation in the region so that we can always respond flexibly, our environmental coaches are present at regional events for help and tips on less waste and better separation, and you can request a new or extra raw materials container.

Take care of it yourself

With the Waardlanden app, integrated into the website, you as a resident can arrange and look up many matters relating to waste and raw materials separation online. This is how we help you separate your waste and reusable materials and products as easily as possible.

Monitoring and enforcement: preventing serious pollution

In waste collection, we sometimes encounter serious pollution. These include rubbish deposits at the collection containers and dumped waste in public spaces. Our supervisors do all they can to combat this. Of course, you can also contact them with your questions about waste and raw materials.

No to litter

Litter lying around on the streets and in nature is called litter. Litter is left behind or thrown away by people. Examples include cigarette butts, chewing gum and packaging, such as drinks cans, bottles and candy wrappers. This causes a lot of annoyance. It is bad for people, animals and nature. Moreover, it attracts vermin and cleaning up costs society a lot of money.

Waste on the streets and in green spaces decays very slowly. Chewing gum only decomposes after at least 20 years, and a beverage can hardly decomposes at all. Some raw materials, such as glass and plastic, do not even decompose at all. Therefore, always throw waste in a public rubbish bin or take it home. This way, you can separate it properly. Drinks cans and bottles now have a deposit, so you can even return them.

Clearances

Do you want to keep your street, green area, schoolyard or shopping area clean, alone or with a group, and organise clean-up actions to do so? We will help you with materials and tips. Together, we keep our surroundings clean and beautiful.

It's contagious: a place we actively keep clean stays cleaner. And clean-ups are fun to do, you are immediately outside having fun.

How does it work?

Samen Schoon, Samen Blij!If you organise the action(s), we will help you with the necessary items:

  • Safety vests
  • Rubbish bags
  • Prickers
  • Gloves

Afterwards, we will come by with one of our trucks and dispose of the bags of litter. Or, if you occasionally have a full bag of litter, throw it in an underground container for residual waste in the neighbourhood. Get involved too!

> Send an e-mail to our environmental coaches Nelleke and Ingrid And we will work together.

Do you regularly pick up litter?

Waardlanden and the municipalities are very grateful to you for voluntarily picking up litter and helping to keep our beautiful surroundings clean and safe. Picking up any kind of litter is a step in the right direction towards making our region more beautiful and cleaner. Some pick up litter while walking the dog, others go out on a fixed day a week or month. As a litter picker, you decide when and how often you pick up litter.

No charge for disposing of litter

Everyone who helps keep our environment clean should be able to dispose of shredded litter in a residual waste collection container. With our special litter pass, from 1 January 2024, you will be able to open nearby residual waste collection containers free of charge to dispose of shredded litter. The introduction of the recycling tariff in Gorinchem, Hardinxveld-Giessendam and Molenlanden will therefore not cause you to pay more to throw away picked-up litter. You only pay for offering your household residual waste. The recycling tariff will not apply to residents of Vijfheerenlanden in 2024. This municipality will decide on the recycling tariff after an evaluation of the effects of the other measures.
