Separating waste. What works and what doesn't for you?

The municipalities of Gorinchem, Hardinxveld-Giessendam, Molenlanden, and Vijfheerenlanden are collaborating with Waardlanden on the preparation of a new waste plan.

To achieve this, we want to better understand what helps residents in their daily practice: what goes well and what do residents find difficult when separating and disposing of waste?

Join in and fill out the questionnaire below.

Toy swap market

Sinterklaas Toy Swap Market Gorinchem: Exchange your old toys for new finds

  • Date: 11-11-2025
  • Time of: 19.15
  • Time until: 20.00
  • Intro text: Swapping toys instead of buying them: a smart choice for Sinterklaas. Give toys a new life during the swap meet on November 11th.
  • Local authority: Gorinchem
  • Street and house number: Dukatenplein 2
  • City: Gorinchem
  • Location: Community center Rozenobel

With Sinterklaas fast approaching, we're organizing the Recyclesint toy swap market at the Rozenobel Community Center in Gorinchem on Tuesday, November 11th, in collaboration with the Lemonade Brigade. It's a great opportunity to give unused toys a new life and celebrate Sinterklaas affordably and in an environmentally friendly way.

With this toy swap, we're making the Sinterklaas celebration not only more affordable but also more sustainable. Many households have toys lying around unused, even though they're still in good condition. By exchanging these toys, other children can be happy and fewer new items need to be purchased. This reduces waste, packaging, the use of new raw materials, time, and purchasing stress.

How does it work?

Only clean, complete, and tidy toys will be accepted. This way, everyone can take home something special. Bring toys that are still in good condition and usable during one of the drop-off times and find other toys at the swap meet.

You can return good, clean and complete toys to Wijkcentrum Rozenobel in Gorinchem at:

  • Friday, November 7, from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM (Haarwijk Inspiration Spot)
  • Tuesday, November 11, from 6:30 PM to 7:00 PM (just before the swap meet)

Please note: books and cuddly toys will not be accepted or exchanged.

For every toy you donate, you'll receive gift certificates. These can be used to choose other toys during the swap party on November 11th, from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM. Even if you just want to donate without swapping, you're more than welcome to join.

Together for less waste

Our environmental coach, Nelleke Gouw, explains: "By exchanging good toys, fewer new items need to be purchased. This prevents waste and packaging, and conserves resources. This frees up space in the house and allows us to celebrate a greener Sinterklaas celebration together."

A celebration of sharing

Leftover toys go to the Toy Bank. This way, every toy gets a new purpose, and together we can make as many children as possible happy with a wonderful Sinterklaas gift.

Help clean up the Linge during the Canal Cleanup – clean water starts with ourselves

  • Date: 08-11-2025
  • Time of: 11:00
  • Time until: 13:00
  • Intro text: Help clean up the Linge during the Canal Cleanup – clean water starts with ourselves
  • Local authority: River area

Saturday, November 8th is the day: the Canal Cleanup along the Linge River. Join us and help rid the river of litter! The Sustainable Innovation Foundation is organizing this major cleanup in collaboration with Recycle Valley, the municipalities of Gorinchem and West Betuwe, the Rivierenland Water Board, and the Rivierenland Fund.

From Gorinchem to Doornenburg, dozens of volunteers help to clean up plastic, cans and other litter from and along the river.
The entire route is 100 kilometers long and divided into short routes of 2 to 4 kilometers. This means everyone can participate: young and old, alone or with the whole family. In less than two hours, you can make a difference!

The Canal Cleanup is part of a larger, national initiative called "From the Dunes to Germany." The goal is clear: working together to create cleaner rivers and reduce damage to nature, animals, and water. A lot of waste still ends up in the water every year. Together, we can change that!
