Litter is harmful to humans, animals, and the environment. Animals get entangled in it or eat it, which is unhealthy. It also attracts vermin and pollutes the soil. Fortunately, we can do something together to reduce litter. We've compiled the five most important tips!
Tip 1: Put waste in the bin
Never place garbage bags next to the containers. This prevents litter and vermin. Make sure the trash fits inside the container to prevent problems when emptying it. Don't place trash next to the containers. You'll pay high disposal fees for doing so.
Tip 2: Report additional waste
Do you see trash next to a container? Report it to your municipality or Waardlanden. Please include the container number when reporting it. You can find this number on the top left of the container.
Tip 3: Manage bulky waste smartly
Take bulky waste to the recycling center or schedule a bulky waste collection appointment. Don't leave bulky waste on the street without an appointment.
Tip 4: Keep litter under control
Throw trash in trash cans along the way, even small items like chewing gum and cigarette butts. If there isn't a trash can nearby, take small items home with you.
Tip 5: Don't feed birds
Don't feed bread to birds; it's unhealthy for them and attracts pests like rats. Throw old bread in the organic waste bin.
Together we ensure a waste-free and clean environment!
