Properly stored products will keep them fresh for much longer. Prevent waste and discover how to best store and preserve products with our storage tips.

Refrigerator storage tips

  • The best temperature for your refrigerator is 4ºC. This reduces the growth of bacteria and mold, and food stays fresh longer if you store it in the refrigerator.
  • Keep the same layout so you can easily find products. Store products in their original packaging whenever possible, so you can regularly check the expiration dates.
  • Always cover opened products and leftover vegetables and fruit well.
  • Store leftovers in a sealed container in the refrigerator for a maximum of 2 days to protect them from drying out and bacteria.
  • Stick stickers on the contents of containers and write down the date. Don't put hot food in the refrigerator immediately; let it cool first. Use a pan of cold water for this, if necessary. Divide leftovers into small portions and refrigerate or freeze them within 2 hours.
  • Cover and return meats, fish and salads to the refrigerator as soon as possible after use.
  • Do not place products too close together, so that the air can circulate properly.
  • Keep raw foods, such as meat, and cooked foods separate from each other.
  • After use, rewrap butter and cheese airtight to prevent air from getting in.
  • It's best to store raw produce at the bottom of the refrigerator, above the crisper drawer. It's colder at the bottom than at the top, which can easily make a difference of 2ºC. Moreover, the back of the refrigerator is always colder than the front.

Below you'll find the best refrigerator layout to keep your products fresh for as long as possible. Clean your refrigerator every three months to prevent bacteria!
