You live outside the built-up area or on the outskirts of the municipalities of Gorinchem, Hardinxveld-Giessendam, or Molenlanden, such as in the polder or along the dike. You have three containers for organic waste, PMD, and paper, and one chipped residual waste container. Together with the municipalities, we want to encourage and help residents reduce waste and separate it even more effectively. This is good for the environment and your wallet.
Paper container at your home
You can dispose of paper and cardboard in the (blue) paper container. Break up cardboard so more can fit in the container.

Chipped residual waste container at your home
You have a 240-liter chipped container for your residual waste. The chip has a unique number linked to your address. Special equipment in our vehicles reads the chip each time it's emptied. You pay a recycling fee each time you have your residual waste container emptied. The better you separate your waste, the less residual waste you produce, and the less you pay.

Caps and lids can remain on; they are separated from the glass at the factory. Make sure the packaging is empty. Small amounts of residue are also fine. Rinsing is therefore not necessary.

Waste disposal tax and recycling rate
Starting January 1, 2024, your municipality will use a new method to calculate waste disposal tax. You will have control over a portion of the tax. This portion varies and is called the recycling rate. You pay the recycling rate each time you dispose of residual waste. So, the better you separate your waste, the less residual waste you produce, and the less you pay.
