Back to overview

A tariff on bulky household waste appears to work well to reduce combustible bulky household waste. With a tariff on bulky waste, we encourage residents to sort their bulky waste and take it apart at home and bring it separately to an environmental street. Many materials can be reused. Better for the environment and your wallet.

Taking bulky waste to the waste disposal site

You are welcome to visit our environmental centres with a environmental pass. Without a pass, you cannot visit the waste disposal site. For a small number of waste products, you pay directly at the gate to one of our staff members. This can only be done by debit card, which is safe.

A lot of bulky waste, renovation waste and bulky garden waste comes from a small group of people. It costs a lot of money to have this processed. That is why people who bring in this type of waste pay these costs themselves. That way it stays fair and we keep the costs for other residents as low as possible.

Do you live in the municipality of Gorinchem, Hardinxveld-Giessendam or Molenlanden? Then you can send this waste free three times a year. After that, a tariff applies. Residents of Vijfheerenlanden do not have to pay separately, the municipality will decide on that later.

Bringing stuff and materials for free

You can dispose of the following items and materials separately at the waste disposal site as often as you like. You therefore do not have to pay separately for these.
Note: you do need your environmental pass to access the environmental street.

  • Asbestos
  • Baby nappies
  • Tyres without rim
  • Chemical waste (kca)
  • Electrical appliances
  • Deep-frying oil
  • Gas cylinders
  • Glass (coloured and white)
  • Hard plastic
  • Mattresses
  • Metal (iron)
  • Paper and cardboard
  • Styrofoam (eps)
  • Textiles
  • Flat glass

Bulky waste collection at home?

You can also choose to have your bulky household waste, white and brown goods collected from your home. Residents of Gorinchem, Hardinxveld-Giessendam and Molenlanden pay € 40,- per collection appointment. Per appointment, you can collect a maximum of 1 cubic metre (1 m3). You pay directly with iDeal when you make the appointment.

Bulky waste that residents have collected from their homes is residual waste and is incinerated. A pity, because bulky household waste contains many valuable materials that can be reused. With a fee on this bulky waste collection service, the municipalities encourage residents to sort their bulky household waste, disassemble it at home and deliver it separately to the environmental centre. Less then needs to be incinerated and more raw materials can be recycled. This is how we ensure more circular and sustainable waste management in the region.
