Prevent, separate and recycle waste

If you separate your waste properly at home, your costs will be lower than if you have a lot of residual waste. The less often you dispose of your residual waste, the lower the variable portion of the annual waste collection tax will be. At least, if you live in Gorinchem, Hardinxveld-Giessendam, or Molenlanden. Residents of Vijfheerenlanden do not yet have access to a portion of the waste collection tax.

This way, you always have all the information about waste and raw materials at hand. Would you prefer a paper separation guide? You can view, download, and even print the waste separation guide. Then you can hang it in a handy place at home. That way, you can quickly see what belongs where.

Use the multilingual card

Our supervisors and environmental coaches use a multilingual waste management card. This card provides clear and understandable information about waste separation and collection for residents who don't speak Dutch or don't speak it well enough. The card provides more information in Arabic, English, Ukrainian, Polish, Romanian, and Turkish about the types of containers and what belongs in them, the locations of collection containers, what can be taken to the thrift store or recycling center, and the importance of not leaving food scraps on the street. This ensures that all residents know how to separate and dispose of waste and raw materials. It also raises awareness about waste separation within communities.

Do not place waste next to collection containers

Placing waste next to the collection container is prohibited. Besides the high costs of this violation, placing additional waste is detrimental to neighborhood safety and public health, and it also looks very unsightly. To ensure a clean and safe public space free of litter and vermin, it's important to remove any additional waste as quickly as possible. This prevents copycat behavior. People add waste when they see something already there.

That's why we're now using direct government measures, or urgent administrative enforcement. We're charging €206,50 for the removal of illegally placed waste. This has the advantage of keeping the surrounding area clean because any contamination is cleaned up immediately. This way, we ensure a safe, healthy, and clean environment. 

         

Does the waste not fit in the container?

Take it to the recycling center or make an appointment and have it picked up. you can also make a bulky waste appointment in the Waardlanden appWith the environmental pass, you can visit the recycling centers as often as you like. Residents of the municipalities of Gorinchem, Hardinxveld-Giessendam, and Molenlanden pay a fee for a small number of waste types and raw materials. These fees are set annually. With the environmental pass, each household can bring one or more of these materials to the recycling center three times a year without having to pay separately. A fee applies from the fourth visit onwards. You can find out which materials you have to pay separately for at take bulky waste away yourself and have it collected at home.

         

Are you moving and do you have bulky waste??

Bring bulky waste to the recycling center with your environmental pass or make an appointment and let us pick it up. You can also easily make a bulky waste appointment in the Waardlanden app. You can reserve a trailer for free at the recycling center and use it for two hours to bring items to the recycling center. 

Do you live in Gorinchem and don't have a car?

Do you live in Gorinchem and don't have a car to take your bulky waste away? Call Poort6 on weekdays between 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM at 0183-669900. They can also help you take your waste away.

         

Is your environmental pass not working?

It's possible your card or the card reader isn't working. Try your card at a different residual waste container first. There's always another container within walking distance of yours. If your card doesn't work there either, try a message on our website or in the Waardlanden app. Don't leave the bag at the collection container; take it back home with you. 

         

Is the collection container full?

Thanks to a built-in detector in the collection containers, we can remotely monitor their fullness. This allows us to further improve planning and empty the containers on time. If you arrive at a full container before us, or if there's a malfunction, try another residual waste container near you. There's always one within walking distance. Placing waste next to the collection container is not permitted.

         

Storing collection container

You can report malfunctions 24 hours a day report on our website or in the Waardlanden app. It would be helpful if you could provide the container number immediately, so our colleagues can resolve the issue more quickly and prevent additional placements. You'll find the container number in the upper left corner of the collection container. You can dispose of your garbage bag in a different container. There's always another container within walking distance. Or take your garbage bag home with you until the problem is resolved. Do not place your waste next to the collection container. The costs for this violation are high!

         

Prevent noise pollution

To prevent noise pollution, we ask that you do not use the collection container between 22.00 p.m. and 7.00 a.m.
