Back to overview

In the coming period, you as a resident of Vijfheerenlanden municipality will be faced with changes around waste collection. Together with Waardlanden, we have worked carefully on the preparations and are implementing the changes step by step. In October, all residents in the built-up area will receive an environmental pass for each household. After that, the collection containers for residual waste will be closed. The containers can then only be opened with the environmental pass. This change will help municipality Vijfheerenlanden tackle problems such as waste tourism. As a resident of Vijfheerenlanden municipality, you will not have to pay separately to dispose of residual waste.

Step by step

On 16 October 2023, Waardlanden will send residents in the built-up areas of Ameide, Hei en Boeicop, Kedichem, Leerbroek, Leerdam, Lexmond, Meerkerk, Nieuwland, Oosterwijk, Schoonrewoerd and Tienhoven aan de Lek the environmental pass with an explanation of how to use the pass. From 23 October 2023, the collection containers for residual waste will be closed in these places.

On 30 October 2023, Waardlanden will also send residents in the built-up areas of Everdingen, Hagestein, Hoef en Haag, Vianen and Zijderveld the environmental pass with an explanation of how to use the pass. From 6 November, the collection containers for residual waste will be closed in these places.

What else is changing?

The collection containers for plastic packaging, metal packaging and drink cartons (pmd) will disappear. Waste analyses have shown that the quality of pmd in collection containers is insufficient. Therefore, residents of flats, upstairs flats and houses without 3 types of containers, such as in the centre of Leerdam or Vianen, may dispose of residual waste and pmd together in the collection container for residual waste. This waste is collected separately and later sorted by machines. This allows us to recycle more and we need to incinerate less residual waste. All other raw materials such as glass, textiles, paper and cardboard can continue to be separated. Residents of high-rise buildings can now also separate their vegetable, fruit and garden waste and food waste (VGF). The environmental card allows them to open the new bins for VGF waste.

Residents outside area get environmental pass in November

Residents in the outlying area and on the outskirts of Molenlanden municipality received a new residual waste container at their homes in autumn 2022. They will also receive an environment pass in November 2023. With the environmental pass, they cannot open the residual waste collection containers. From 1 December 2023, all residents will need the pass to access Waardlanden's waste collection points. Residents of Vijfheerenlanden will not have to pay separately for this.

Environment pass for businesses

Businesses with a contract to use the underground containers will receive an environmental pass from Waardlanden Reinigingsbedrijf BV in the coming period. Businesses can visit the website for more information: waardlanden.co.uk/businesses.
