Ozan Cimen has been working as an education officer at Waardlanden since November 2022. His work is varied and every day looks different. Much of his time is spent at the waste-free schools. Here, he teaches about resource separation and holds discussions with managements about reducing residual waste. Sharing knowledge is key to encouraging greater understanding and different behaviour.

Educatiemedewerker OzanOzan also hosts groups, including school classes, in the education room at the Ecopark in Groot-Ammers. Here, he teaches them more about the circular economy and how they themselves can contribute to a better environment. With these educational programmes, Ozan hopes to contribute to awareness and behavioural change among young people and adults.

'Working daily with children on a waste-free society gives me a lot of energy. After all, they are the future! My working week looks very different during the Week of Waste Heroes than during the Week of the Circular Economy. The varied theme weeks I get to contribute to, the variation between working in the office and being on the road make my work fun and challenging. And the contacts I have with partners who also offer education and pursue the same goal, such as Het Natuurcentrum Gorinchem.'
