Back to overview

You live in a flat, flat or upstairs flat in the built-up area of the municipality of Gorinchem, Hardinxveld-Giessendam and Molenlanden. Or you live in a low-rise house and does not have space for 3 types of containers. For example, you probably live in the centre of Gorinchem, in Nieuwpoort or in a hamlet such as De Giessenburg and De Bilderhof. You now separate all your waste except VGF. You take your separated waste to nearby collection containers. In the near future, there will be changes around waste. Together with the municipalities, we want to encourage and help residents to separate less waste and (even) better.

GFT collection containers

You dispose of your vegetable, fruit and garden waste and food waste in the VGF waste collection containers in your neighbourhood. You can open these using your environmental pass. You do not have to pay separately for them. Do you want to use bags? Then use compostable bags with the seedling logo. Only these bags can be used for VGF waste.

Dispose of Pmd and residual waste together

You can dispose of your plastic packaging, metal packaging and drink cartons (pmd) together with your residual waste in the collection container for residual waste. This waste is collected separately and later sorted by machines. You can open the residual waste collection container with your environmental pass. In 2023, you will not have to separately  pay.

Recycling rate

From 1 January 2024, the municipalities of Gorinchem, Hardinxveld-Giessendam and Molenlanden will calculate waste charges in a new way. You will have an influence on the amount of part of your waste collection levy. A part is fixed and a part is variable. This variable part is called the recycling rate. Do you separate raw materials well and have little residual waste? Then your costs will be lower than if you have a lot of residual waste. Your municipality takes into account people with a lot of medical waste, litter pickers and households with insufficient income.
