In every Waardlanden municipality there will be a smart waste bin with a 120-litre capacity, the Mr. Fill, for a period of three months. During the trial, we are testing whether the bins need to be emptied less often thanks to a built-in press, which runs on a solar panel. If the bin is too full, it closes automatically.
A special app keeps track of how full the bin is and when it should be emptied. This prevents bins from overflowing. And pests cannot move rubbish that sticks out of the bins. We can also estimate whether emptying is necessary before the weekend. The appearance makes the litter bin stand out more and is expected to be better used. The smart waste bins have been placed in places where previously there were bins with a large throw-in. There is a Mr Fill at the following locations:
